The Crocus Cafe, Nottingham

The Crocus cafe is a  volunteer led, award winning community cafe in the heart of Lenton, Nottingham. The Crocus aims to provide healthy, extremely affordable, veggie and vegan, locally-sourced or fairtrade food and products that are organic wherever possible.

The Crocus serves a range of hot and cold drinks , a plethora of tasty breakfast options (9am-11am), sweet and savoury homemade snacks, soup, sandwiches, salads, main courses and puddings (we finish serving main courses at 3pm). We try to buy local, organic and fairtrade wherever possible. All of our teas and coffees are fairtrade, obviously.

An example menu for two hungry people might be:

Person one.

• Tropical juice
• Pakoras with tzatziki dip
• Halloumi salad for main
• Rhubarb crumble and a Latte

Person two.

• Organic cola
• Pitta, hummus and olives
• Spinach and goats cheese lasagne
• Vegan double chocolate brownies and a Mocha

The Crocus is not only committed to providing ethical and environmentally food but also to being affordable to everyone. Main courses are all under four pounds, sandwiches and panninis from two pounds fifty plus a range of tea, coffee and juices at prices that won’t break your bank balance.

Crocus sells a range of fairtrade, organic and/or ethically-sourced products including chocolate, tea, ground coffee, fruit juice, soya milk, washing-up liquid, squash, peanut-butter and honey. We also sell some locally-produced crafts including cards and candle holders.
